I earned my Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law where I was involved with the Student Intellectual Property Law Association, and worked as a research assistant with work credited in 3 publications.
Prior to attending law school, I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with my Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising; Minor in Textiles. I worked in apparel, accessory and footwear production before going into retail management and earning my M.B.A. in Global Business Management from the Forbes School of Business & Technology at the University of Arizona Global Campus. Kat Swann, Legal Assistant.
Kat Swann joined the team in 2024, bringing with her a growing passion for intellectual property law that has only deepened over the past year. She holds two Associate degrees: one in Social and Behavioral Sciences and another in Sociology. She is currently working toward her BA in Criminology and Justice Studies at California State San Marcos, set to graduate in December 2025.
"While I've always been drawn to criminal justice, I discovered that intellectual property law really caught my attention. From navigating complex filing procedures to keeping up with ever-changing regulations, there's something about the blend of legal reasoning and practical problem-solving that keeps me engaged and constantly learning. My background in the social sciences has given me a helpful lens for thinking through the broader context and implications of the IP work I handle while working alongside Carrie and Mathilde.
After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to pursue a paralegal certificate at the University of San Diego, further cementing my path in the legal field. My goal is to continue growing my expertise while providing the best assistance possible to our clients and supporting our attorneys."
Collaboration.
Our practice benefits from close collaboration with other attorneys. Since the majority of countries, including the US, have laws in place so that an attorney can’t provide services in another country, we work closely with a network of attorneys around the globe to provide seamless coverage for clients wanting to pursue foreign registrations or enforcement.
Of course, our most notable collaboration is with Craig O. Correll - who Carrie worked closely with for several years before his retirement. He has over 30 years of legal experience, most of that at the helm of his own trademark practice.
